What’s on our B&H Wish List?
I’m a big believer in making a wish list for something, no matter how big or small. Thinking of a new business venture? Wish list. Thinking of how to revamp your home décor? Wish list. Creating a “wish” list instead of just a regular boring list gives you something to strive to, a goal to be inspired to work toward. Even if an item is realistically currently unattainable, adding it to the wish list sets a quantifiable goal to try to reach. Lists can ebb and flow and adapt. It’s not a checklist for a reason.
Out of the countless wish lists that I currently have floating around, one that never gets pushed to the back burner is the one I have on B&H (well, one of the many that I have on their website).
So, what’s on my current 2025 B&H wish list? First, something any creative is always in need of more of. Storage space. No matter how many gigs of space you have, it seems like it’s a never-ending quest to get more. In addition to more memory cards, we also need to expand our server storage, so a non-negotiable on my wish list is the IronWolf Pro 20TB hard drive.
On the topic of storage space, another want for this year is the Synology DS923+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure, specifically to have fast, reliable, protected portable storage at events. We travel a lot for our clients, and we also want to ensure that we have the infrastructure in place to provide them with the best quality service. Having this set up will allow our editors to work off a singular server throughout the entire event, increasing efficiency and security.
Probably the biggest ticket item on my list this year is the Sony BURANO. It’s their new cinema camera, and it’s the first camera that has interchangeable mounts, which allows you to swap out different brands of lenses. My favorite thing about it is that it has both an electronic variable ND filter and image stabilization. The other Sony cinema cameras I have only have one or the other, so it’d be nice to have one piece of equipment that has both
I really want to expand into the podcast studio space this year, and one of the things I think would be really helpful there is the Apple Mac mini with M4 Chip. I think that product has a great performance value for the price, and it would be really great for audio recording. Even aside from audio recording, I think it’s a great piece of equipment to have for people to have if they do light creative work in Photoshop or minor video editing. It’ll be great to have for our intern, Ava to use on a day-to-day.
This year I might finally be ready to make the plunge to buy this lens that I’ve rented a couple of times. The Sony 70-200 f/2.8 OSS. I love the auto-focus functionality and they’re just a really cool looking lens. This is a great lens for shooting interviews and things like that, as well as for getting some content at weddings with Tulsa Wedding Co.
This list will certainly keep on growing as the year progresses, but as of January, this is my 2025 B&H wish list. While the goal of this list is to buy all these pieces of equipment, they can always roll onto the 2026 wish list.
